Killing them is the wrong word. As you said, they already dead.
But setting aside where the energy comes from, the movement signals would still come from the brain. So destroy the brain, and the body stops.

What’s really strange is when a hand gets severed but still moves. If that happens then we’re genuinely looking at some kind of magic, and all logical rules are up for grabs.
