Getting downvotes (and bots were here etc) but this is essentially true, if delivered a bit mean.
Don’t buy ceramic knives; they dangerous as hell and will fail catastrophically at the wrong time. And never put your cutting knives in the dishwasher, as you amended your post to say.
Good knives don’t have to be expensive, but you’ll have to so some research or buy second and learn how to sharpen them. They will burn me as a witch, but there are other wash than a whetstone that are just as effective and that do not significantly damage your blade.
