Looks a dialect to me
yea and galician “looks like” a dialect of spanish, norwegian “looks like” a dialect of danish, and afrikaans “looks like” a dialect of dutch. “dialect” and “language” are meaningless words
what I was referring to was the wikipedia definition of Scots
Wikipedia does explain that Scots and English are sister languages, they both descend from Old English. Neither is a dialect.
