  Obsession with a failed state that is a functional monarchy dressed in the ragged hand me downs of revolution doesn’t make you a socialist.

  Awareness of far more recent, far more relevant comparisons doesn’t make you an imperialist.

  Being Irish doesn’t make me a saint but it’s certainly a better education in imperialism than whatever makes people root for royalty in Mao’s clothing.
