I mean, that’s a video of a dude in a costume, did someone didn’t know that? In a way it’s amusing how a shitty prank like this can live in the collective consciousness for 5 decades.

This came out during an interesting time in history. We went to the moon just a couple years later! Technology was exciting, things were happening. Trying to put myself into the shoes of an average person back then, I’d say it’s totally believable. We have the benefit of hindsight and a more digital world to easily see it’s fake.
