The Americans actually tried that with some gas reserves, and as expected nuclear fracking increased yields, but radioactive gas.
So they’re the only country who has nukes themselves for economic reasons…

Ariselas@piefed.ca 2 weeks agothe gas would likely be irradiated too. I heard of an early proposal to detonate nukes deep underground in the tar sands to bring the oil to the top, theoretically it would work but radioactive oil.

Unless you count sealing gas field blowouts, which was apparently done five times and one time for methane blowout, and lots of other test explosions like geological exploration.
Are those economic reasons? Or disaster management?
39 explosions for geological exploration (trying to find new natural gas deposits by studying seismic waves produced by small nuclear explosions)
25 explosions to intensify oil and gas debits
22 explosions to create underground storage for natural gas
Does this sound like disaster management?
You mean my cars get free nuke juice? Why aren’t we doing this again?

Not irradiated! It’s been treated with Shell Atomic Boost!
Just look for the glowing pump.
