Comment on Nippon Ichi Software announces Nippon Ichi PC Games service

Tl;dr: because physical version bonuses (art books, acrylic stands) haven’t been available to PC players, they’re adding a service where, by buying a game directly through their own online storefront on PC, you can also get those physical items

Ooh, that sounds cool!
It’d be really nice if it could include the actual game on disc or whatever, but, that probably isn’t a thing they can easily do. It’d be cool if it was, though.

I imagine that’s doable easily enough, but in 2026 I imagine demand for physical copies of PC games is pretty low. Not that many people have disc drives anymore. DRM might get weird as well

Yeah DRM would definitely get weird.
70% of the point of it would be to bring back actually owning your games, so as long as the DRM travels with the disc and you can resell it and the recipient can use it without being an EEEEVIL PIRATE!!!, it’s good.
Though it would introduce the weird issue of having to swap discs like you do a console.
