To hunt? No. I don’t even think it’s legal to hunt with it. It is the most popular rifle, but it isn’t for hunting. It’s for target shooting (in theory, if it’s for sport), or “self-defense”.
A quick search shows it’s prohibited in just 4 states. Many states have conditions that apply to configuration of rifles (and shotguns) such as capacity limits, so those would affect the the same.
