So this is a good reply but I can’t reply to it all otherwise I’ll be writing a book and I want to go to sleep but the main thing that catches me:

What do you reckon the beliefs of the Bondi stabber were? Despite the false and societally damaging claims of Islamist, he was defintiely not

really?

This guy:

Naveed Akram appeared to have been tagged in a 2022 social media post stating that he had passed his Koran studies at the Al-Murad Institute in Heckenberg, western Sydney.

This guy?

Alleged Bondi gunman Naveed Akram has been given a copy of the Koran and met with a [muslim] chaplain while being detained over last month’s horrific massacre.

Well if he’s not a muslim he’s doing a pretty good job pretending 😜

(think about the M.O. for all those US school shooters, they’re often like your example of jihadi jake).

I get what you’re saying but but to me there is no resolve for Islam, unlike school shooters who are mislead kids, my resolve would be to fix the school system and whatever it is that’s causing them to lash out in such a harmful way, is access to guns to easy? then we need to restrict them, are schools not noticing when kids are going down a dark path? then we need to improve monitoring and child welfare.

On the other hand I cannot make peace with Islam or Nazism with ‘some people who follow it are friendly and others are mean, therefore it’s not the ideology it’s the person’, as someone who is anti-religion I have no desire to reform it or make peace with it, I simply don’t care for it or religion in general

I need to read the rest of your post tomorrow but I just want to say thanks for actually replying with a proper post, most of the people here on Lemmy don’t seem to have the capacity to respond beyond one line snarky responses so I appreciate it
