I’m not sure if you’re aware of this since you posted that chart, but that big line at the start is under the Bush Administration from 2001 to 2008, Obama was president from 2009 to 2016 where it was far in decline likely due to his policies of 72 hour holding limitations on immigrants without charges and an explicit Criminal-Only focus for the ICE, then Trump’s first term was 2017 to 2020 where, again, there was a big spike in deaths and some migrants including young children were held for many months without charges and often deported to random countries alone and unsupervised, then from 2021 to 2024 was Biden where the 72 hour and the focus were put back in place you see it be the lowest it’s ever been, and then after 2025 is Trump again with another huge spike.

DNC are the answer and they’ve had 48 or less senators for over 13 years. If we want change, we need to give them at least enough majority to reconsider the fillibuster rules, or otherwise a supermajority.
