I'm pretty surprised that they did this. The controversy had by all appearances subsided and it seemed, at least to me, that nobody really cared about this story anymore.

Also, while I agree that what the assistant did was wrong, I don't think this was so bad that she should have lost her job over it instead of being suspended or forced to go through discrimination training or something.
