zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 1 week agoThe moon, due to it’s unusual size and proximity for a moon, has a much greater effect on the tides than the sun. That’s why the tides are more closely linked to the moon’s orbit around the earth, not the Earth’s around the sun.

They are linked to both though. That is why you get even higher tides at some times of the year. The moon has a larger effect but they can combine.
