I mean, I don’t know how it works when it’s in food. But psyllium husk is a bit interesting. Diarrhea? It absorbs water. Constipation? It absorbs water, and is something soft.
Now take too much or don’t drink enough water and you’re absolutely screwed.

He ingested the husks without adequate amount of fluids because he was fasting in Ramadan (during fasting hours, no eating or drinking fluids are allowed). While in the hospital, the patient received repeated enemas. He passed a huge amount of fecal matter and the intestinal obstruction was relieved.
