BurntWits@sh.itjust.works 1 day agoYeah, the 18oz “pint” really bugs me, but unfortunately it’s everywhere. It’s an exception if it’s 20oz, not the norm. Last night actually I was at a restaurant that was trying to pass off 17oz as a pint. If it wasn’t so expensive I wouldn’t mind it, but at least where I live, 18oz goes north of $9 most places, it’s crazy. There’s only one restaurant nearby that sells beer at a decent price, so that’s basically the only place I go these days if I want a drink other than at home.

Chuck’s Roadhouse is pretty good for beer prices. IIRC, it’s:
12oz - $3 18oz - $5
That could be slightly off but you get the idea. They’ve got a 30ish oz pitcher too that’s probably only $15 or something. I can’t remember now but it was very cheap. I don’t go to Chucks a ton, the food is decent (not great but decent) and well priced, I just don’t usually eat out, but my wife loves restaurants so Chucks has become our go-to now because of pricing. Life is expensive, all that jazz. Point is, I can get a small beer for $3 which is completely unheard of elsewhere. Yeah it’s only 12oz but it’s still a good deal, and I can get drunk at home if I really want. I don’t like getting beer drunk anyway, I always feel miserable that way.
I found out apparently Crabby Joes has cheap cocktails too. $8 for a 2oz old fashioned is pretty cheap around here. Still cheaper to make at home, but I’m glad some places still exist with a drink menu for the budget-conscious.
