@Hyolobrika@ResidentEvil@realcaseyrollins I agree, however what if the person is actually suffering from some other condition (or set of conditions) which ends up being overshadowed by the desire to change genders and if treated might actually clear up the disphoria they are experiencing? One concern I have is that I have known people who, if the world was then what it is today, might have transitioned in one part of their lives and now are entirely aware that their judgement was not sound at the time and are very thankful that they didn't move further in that direction.
@Hyolobrika@ResidentEvil@realcaseyrollins this is not me supporting the position of the legislators you are referring to. It's just me saying there is some room for pause with such irrevocable decisions.
@ResidentEvil@Hyolobrika@realcaseyrollins yeah I agree, I'm just not sure where that line should be drawn between adult and adolescent. I actually think at least today most people are hardly adults at 18 or even at 21. It's funny because at 21 I was certain I was adult enough, but I'm retrospect I made a lot of mistakes that a few years might have helped me avoid.
Perhaps this is a result of our culture and previous generations could expect a person of less years to make sound adult decisions.

How would you implement such "pause" without preventing those who would not otherwise regret their decision from doing what they want?

You know my thoughts on the rights of the "mentally ill".
