âŚbut itâs also software that people generally donât use privately, and for which FLOSS alternatives exist (Blender), arguably better software and because free also used by hobbyists, and even more insanely powerful commercial software that also runs on Linux (Houdini). Frankly speaking Iâm surprised that a DOS 3d software package even made it into currentyear with all that IRIX competition.

Some studios depend on it because they have a whole pipeline&talent revolving around it, but hobbyists ? indeed thatâs weird

The main point is that thereâs probably no Windows-only software that parents+grandparents absolutely need.
