“reading” is not so common as it once was. what kind of reading are we talking about - fiction, non-fiction? Anyway, the number I’m seeing says that the US reads at a 10th-grade level, which is average in the world.

When it comes to non-fiction, today there are other ways of getting information. Youtube for one. Where learning from experts may just be better than reading a book.
