Image My degenerate kamisori has landed! This form factor is completely new to me, so I’ve been impatiently waiting to try it out.

This thing is a beauty: folding kamisori configuration, symmetric (western) grind, full 8/8" width, short blade (compared to western straights with their ~70 mm edge lengths, normal by kamisori standards), polished finish, and —of course— the mark of degeneracy. It looks and feels really well-made, and the beautiful faux-tortoise shell scales sit tight and perfectly centre. Roman knows his razor-making.

The geometry felt immediately comfortable. The tang is fat and square and gives good control of the edge. The wide blade is surprisingly heavy for its short build and it moves through stubble with quiet conviction. I’ve been spoiled by u/Whosgotthepudding edges for the last month, but even so, Roman’s factory edge felt quite good.

I’m enjoying the stubby length. I’m always a bit at a loss what to do with the full length of western straights, so this feels right.
