You may have seen an incident that blew up on reddit about the person who put their pet rat in the fridge and the butter in the cage and then had to fight to extricate the rat who had discovered the ham.

that was me. Autopilot and exhaustion are a helluva combination.

  I got home from graveyard sift, had Onion (rat) roaming merrily on counter while making toast. Eat toast. Put things away. Take rat back to cage. Realise i was putting tub of margerine in rat cage. Panic, bolt back into kitchen, tear open fridge full of apologies.

    You got me with rat on the counter. Nope Nope Nope Nope.
    
    I was once at a friend’s house when her cat was licking the butter. Friend said “naughty baby” and put the lid back on and put it back in the fridge. I never ate there again.

    Onion the Rat! Love it! At least you realised before you’d tucked yourself into bed for a nap. And she was having her best day because who wouldn’t want to be trapped in a smorgasbord.
