Comment on We have had guns for 200 years but mass shootings only became common in the last 30. So what changed?

Mass shootings were common before 30 years ago, but generally only gangsters had automatic weapons, so they usually only involved revolvers or shotguns and were over pretty quickly.

Production of automatic weapons for civilians has been outlawed since ‘86. Very, very few civilians own automatic weapons.

  You’re right I didn’t mean automatic guns, I meant assault style weapons. Basically auto and semi-auto, high capacity, low recoil long guns.
