Sometimes it can be so faint that you can’t see it with the naked eye. I’ve heard of folks being able to see it in phone camera recordings in these cases.

I’ve heard of that happening, too. We got lucky not too long ago (this past winter, maybe?) and had some really good northern lights. Definitely visible to the naked eye!
