Comment on Chris Parnell still doesn't know why he was fired and rehired at 'SNL'
The_Che_Banana@beehaw.org 3 days agoI grew up watching SNL all the way back to Belushi, Radner and 'young Billy Murray ’ and I can say that EVERY SINGLE YEAR people say the same thing: oh, it’s not as good as such and such last year, last cast, etc.
But people still watch it.
For me? It’s like listening to radio back in the day, you had to listen to 10-12 shit songs to hear the hits, but now you only get the hits on the ‘oldies’ without slogging through the garbage.

I was a fan from the beginning, I saw the very first episode. The cliche ”Its no good anymore," started in the second season, in response to Chevy Chase not returning, and it’s been repeated continuously ever since.
It’s had its ups and downs (the late 80s, oof), but it has still been basically the same throughout - every episode has good sketches, weak sketches, and hopefully at least one home run.
Lorne has said that everyone thinks that the best era of SNL were their high school years.
