Do you think they really aren’t aware of the hypocrisy? Hypocrisy is their super power. They can sit through sermons every Sunday for 50 years about loving your neighbors and taking care of the poor, and then gleefully cheer on a homeless camp being violently dismantled. They know they’re the empire, they just understand that the optics are better, and they get more emotional satisfaction by pretending they’re the rebellion.

I don’t think most of them have the media literacy (or literacy in general) to make those connections. Every thought is bouncing around isolated in there.

There certainly are conservatives that don’t have the cognitive capability to see deeper than what is explicitly stated, but I think they are outnumbered by the greedy power hungry ones, and the racist misogynist ones, and all that overlaps.
