Comment on Ban for upvotes is real here?
ThermonuclearEgg@hexbear.net 1 day agoI’ve moderated a community on Reddit before and received ban appeals that look like this:
I said some mean stuff and I told them to shut up, and they were worthless. I understand it’s rude, but I don’t think that it’s enough to permanently ban me from participating in this subreddit.
Meanwhile, in the mod log, it’s revealed that the banned user didn’t say any of that — they actually just used the n-word.
As a result, people are sensitive that some people complaining about mod policies are actually racists that would rather lie than admit the real reason they were banned, even when the actual reason is public knowledge.

Well, not my case. Looks like once I used a pejorative term, just because I found it amusing (without knowing it was a racial slur in some countries). Shit may happen when you’re not a native speaker (and sometimes it happens even when you are).

Maybe if you showed any sort of contrition instead of continually providing excuses as to why it’s not a problem people would believe it was just a mistake.

Oh, just leave me alone. If you’re implying that I’m a racist you are being plainly dishonest. Maybe people should stop pretending to be offended by every little shit (or mistake) on the internet to farm fake karma points by virtue signaling. Goodbye.

I’m not implying anything, I’m telling you why your denial is unbelievable: you haven’t said anything to imply you regret being racist, you’re just brushing it under the carpet as something you thought was funny. That’s not what people who aren’t racist say.
