Well, your comment was medically inaccurate and lacking in empathy.

Lol, I was banned because i said, “If I was inclined, I wouldn’t get gender affirming operations, because at this point the medical technology is barely even cosmetically complete, let alone generally functional.” And that was enough, even though I’m not a transphobe and think people should be able to make any choice that doesnt directly or indirectly harm or deficet others.

I dont believe either of those claims to be true, how would you support them?
OccultIconoclast@reddthat.com 1 day ago
I think arguing about medical techniques is boring, so let’s talk about empathy. You said you wouldn’t get the surgery if you were so inclined. I don’t think you’ve bothered to understand what being so inclined means. I don’t think you’ve considered being so triggered by a part of your body that you’d rather die than keep it. That’s what the situation is for a lot of trans people. I don’t think you’ve thought about that. I think you’ve imagined transition as a nice-to-have, instead of lifesaving medical care. You should do more to understand the feelings of trans people who seek surgery.

But I wanted to talk about medical techniques… :(

What do you think my argument here is, I’ve already stated I think people should do what they want with themselves.
Why are you so insistent that I, what you would call a cisgendered man, change my opinion on what I would do if I were to transition.
Why are you allowed to have any thought or whim you want without disregard for how it might affect me or others, but I have to act as some kind of unilateral compassionate force for every disadvantaged soul on the planet or I’m automatically a “troll”.
I can tell you now your own obnoxious behaviour is part of what generates negative views of the transgender community.
You want people to live and let live, try some of your own medicine, you troglodytic accolyte of unreason.

That’s the dumbest thing to get banned for.
RaptorBenn@lemmy.zip 1 day ago
It was “critical of the trans community” apparently.
Drivebyhaiku@lemmy.world 1 day ago
Well yeah. It’s openly critical of the sexual function of people who have had those proceedures. The trans community as a whole are often depicted as mutilated and less functional by transphobes or people who want to devalue them as valid romantic options. Since access to those medical services are actively under fire that critique isn’t value neutral and it isn’t in the context of what unaltered sexual function is like for people with dysphoria whom often register a marked improvement in overall function from getting over the mental blocks.
The people I know who have had surgeries have been quite happy with the outcome. While it’s true the surgery options regarding bottom surgery for trans men require one to make some decisions about what functions to focus on, framing them as “barely functional” is insulting. Think about what it would be like to hear someone else critique the choices you’ve made that have improved your life experiences in a way that frames you as deficient and devalued.

So I’m not allowed to say I wouldn’t undergo current treatments because I don’t think its progressed far enough?
And in your second paragraph, see how you had to add ugly to my statement to make it malicious and false, that is you projecting onto me, not me.
I see your whole comment as a projection of what your thoughts and internalisations are of the current state of medical transition, concious or not.
