I think they have to send it off to a recycler so would probably be happy to give it out for free

ah.... I was thinking of prepping for doomsday kind of scenario. Obviously if I could buy stuff, I would just do that
But if you are going to be fully independent, then vegetable oil for cooking will require a lot of work, I would just harvest grass/hay and make animal lard instead
If I had to run a vegetable oil to bio diesel system... its way too much. The amount of farming for a gas tank of diesel just won't make sense.... maybe if you have some horses to help you work the land it could be easier. Still a shitload of work.
Solar or wood gas is just so much easier... and wood literally grows on trees, lol
