one of the federal agencies used to sell wild horses for about $75 each - but they need to be tamed and trained. A bike is a better idea and be sure to stock up on brakes, the parts that wear out the quickest. Also get pads for where your hands rest, because half of your weight resting on those bars hurts if done often. I used to bike over 20 miles a day. Extra tires and tubes and things to patch them, too. Mountain bike tires are thicker, so may wear better. Be sure to get attachment to help you carry your stuff, a lock, an air pump to carry with you.
911 not gonna come coz they ran out of gas... and they want to take guns away, lol

Basically for bikes you need rubber or similar. You can hunt small animals to make leather, which would also work. Or plastic like material like plex tubes. Rubber is plenty in landfills - old car tires etc. This scrap can make new brake pads or patch tires/tubes. Hand rests can be made out of anything - cloth, leather, plastic...
Steel parts are unlikely to break although bolts/bolt holes might get worn out, in which case you would have to weld. You can weld without special equipment if you find scrap aluminium and rusted iron. Powder rusted iron and aluminium, mix them both and ignite with a blowtorch. This is thermite, which will make molten iron to cover up worn out holes. You will have to file away the excess till the part fits.
Air pumps are the easiest. In a pinch you can even use a syringe from trash to pump up the tires.
For inspiration, look at 3rd world countries to see how they jerry rig bikes.... yeah that's where we are at - looking to fucking Africa for inspiration. Thanks NWO

Well normal bike also doesn't need gas or electricity
On a related note, I wonder how Preppers are going to deal with it. Everyone says to get a offroad gas jeep/4x4...
But when there will be no gas, how will you drive ?
An electric car makes more sense, because at least you can charge it with solar panels, however slowly....

The solution I've been looking into is buying a diesel car/truck. The process to make diesel fuel from vegetable oil is specific but not overly complex, and you don't need super fancy hardware or chemicals to do it.
If you can grow a few acres of rapeseed (AKA canola if you're sensitive), then you've got renewable diesel and transportation! It's just a dream of mine right now, 'cause I have a gas car and if I can't buy gas then it's useless.

yeah I read recently gas degrades over time too?
lol kinda off topic but I saw a wacky vid of someone filling their truck bed up with gas which was lined with garbage bags and some was leaking out... surreal vid
