The problem–for the U.S. anyway–is the meat lobby influences how the meat industry is regulated. They would slap a label on pork and beef and raise the price 100% while the animals are still being mistreated. The government would need to step in (like in France and Germany) to regulate labels and ensure better conditions for animals.
