I’d call the very premise American, because only Americans think that way. Other countries like mine have national bans in place and don’t suffer from the things the US does like indiscriminate public shootings. In fact, we hope there fewer guns on the streets in the future because it works.
Unfortunately, the very source of our arms refuses to ban them over hypothetical reasons at their own and our own expense.
This reminds me the health insurance with privatized healthcare topic as well. It’s one of the things the US got wrong and it brings them so much pain but they’re proud to keep doing it that way even though everyone else figured it out.
In Germany, it’s literally against the law to insult politicians. The UK is the most surveillanced country in the world(except China). Scotland still has blasphemy laws.
