Spanish has the word âestadounidenseâ which translates to âUnited Statesianâ - a word which doesnât exist in English. Mexicans are North Americans. Argentinians are South Americans. And everyone from the Americas is American. But Iâve heard plenty of Spanish speakers call United States Americans âamericanasâ - it typically depends on their exposure to US influence and the context of the conversation.

"Americana" is also the name of the jacket for a suit.
