I agree. If this is successful in preventing tanking, someone still has to finish at the bottom. I guess it’s a slight relief that they can’t drop below 12, but it still feels a bit like kicking a man when he’s down.
- Comment on NBA Approves New 3-2-1 Draft Odds 2 days ago:
Just want to point out some corrections, at least in my understanding:
- 16 teams total in the lottery now
- Winner of 7/8 game gets no lottery balls and is not a part of the lottery
- Loser of 7/8 game gets one ball
- 9/10 seeds both get two balls
- Bottom 3 teams overall get only two balls, but they cannot fall below 12 in the draft
- Remaining 7 non-play-in teams get three balls and can pick anywhere from 1-16
Additional restrictions:
- Cannot win #1 overall pick in consecutive drafts
- Cannot win a top 5 pick in three consecutive drafts
- Cannot attach top-12 through top-15 protections to newly traded draft picks
- League has expanded authority to reduce a team’s odds modify draft positions and/or impose fines in response to tanking
- Comment on NBA Playoffs: West Conf. Finals - May 28, 2026 4 days ago:
The thing people don’t seem to understand about the way the NBA has refused to penalize that entire team of floppers, is that when the officiating crew decides to reward that unbecoming behavior, it changes the way the game is played. Now you have a team that can freely attack the hoop and the other team feels obligated to give them space to do so out of fear that they’ll foul out if they don’t. It’s a completely different ballgame at that point, and the product is completely unwatchable. I will never understand why the NBA doesn’t just enforce the actual rules that they still have on the books about this. It was a problem fifteen years ago when they first started fining players, and there is no question about the fact that it’s a much larger problem now that all could have been avoided with even moderate enforcement of the actual rules.

Weren’t there some recent transparency concerns with piefed too? I don’t remember the details.

I’d be shocked if there’s a suspension. Most I feel is likely is a fine of like $35k, and probably less to be honest.

Both teams shot like garbage from 3, but the nuggets also could barely hit a 2. Overall good showing from Minnesota in a game where Edwards was clearly not 100% and in foul trouble all night.

If the keep holding the Rockets under 40% shooting, they’ll have a great chance! Especially while shooting 60% themselves.

…but not Edwards. I don’t get it. I get that he played 3 games less than Cunningham, but is 63 really the line in the sand that the league cannot cross? He doesn’t sit to rest, which is what I thought the spirit of the rule was about.

- Comment on NBA Presents 3 Anti-Tanking Proposals to Board of Governors 2 months ago:
The second proposal is only exactly 22 teams assuming the four play-in teams that make the playoffs actually lose in the first round. If any of them win, then you’ll have more than 22 teams in the lottery.
Other than that minor math issue my biggest complaint with all of these proposals is they all give teams an incentive to have a worse record, they just move the line at where it makes sense to tank. If I’m teetering on a 10 seed and know we’re not winning a championship, why on earth would I play my ass of to get that 10 seed, only to lose my first play in game and be done with much worse chance of landing a top pick?

This was the most insane end of a game I’ve seen all year. Timberwolves lead by 11 with like 3:30 remaining. Houston goes on a huge run to end the fourth, then scores the first 13 pts of OT, then the Wolves score the next 15 pts to win it by 2.

Glad the Wolves held on here, but I feel like we’re lucky the Nuggets missed so many open threes. Good games from Jaden, Dante and Bones.

I think flattening the odds would be the most effective at curbing tanking, but also might be hardest on bad teams.

I’m by no means a CP3 fan, but at the beginning of the season, I really thought this was going to be one of the feel good story lines of the year. Crazy how quickly it went from that to an absolute train wreck.

Timberwolves had arguably their best game of the season against the Bucks on the 13th, then immediately went on a 4 game skid–their longest of the season.

Unbelievable game for the Timberwolves. Down 0-16 at home to start the game, eventually come back to get it within 1 point about half way through the 2nd Q, only to let the Spurs go on a huge run and pump the lead up to 19 just a few minutes after the halftime. Didn’t get their first lead until just over 2 minutes left in the game, never led by more than 2.
Julius is apparently the only guy on the team who can defend Wemby, who had a higher +/- than anyone in the game other than Naz Reid.

Incredible shot. But also, isn’t his toe on the line? I’m assuming they reviewed it and it wasn’t, but it looks like it was in this shot.

The Warriors announcers have to be the only people in the world who still think Draymond has good intentions in everything he does. They somehow find a way to defend him after every idiotic thing he does.
