- Comment on How Would You Rank Quentin Tarantino's Films? 1 week ago:
I personally avoid calling anything “overrated” because it carries judgment against anyone who likes the thing. I will say I haven’t especially enjoyed a Tarantino since I was a teenager and I don’t know what makes him so special.
- Comment on Amazon doesn’t regret giant Phoebe Waller-Bridge deal — but is moving to a ‘very performance-based model’ 2 months ago:
Whatever means she came from, she’s an outstanding screenwriter and a very good actress.
- Comment on Aaron Bacon short movie 2 months ago:
I just listened to this episode of Casefile. The whole story is mortifying. Is the movie any good?

Do you know that the song that won the Oscar was written by a woman, about a woman?
- Comment on The fall (and rise?) of unions in the US - Vox 1 year ago:
I’m not an expert but I have spent several years organizing in my field. Legally it only takes 2 workers to form a bargaining unit. It’s normal to see a union as unnecessary when you’re satisfied with your working conditions. Unfortunately without a union there’s nothing protecting those benefits you enjoy, and they’re often the first thing employers target when they’re looking to cut costs. Without a union your employer has no obligation to consult with you before, for example, switching to a cheaper health insurance or freezing bonuses.
A union contract lets you decide which issues you want to weigh in on. Don’t mind working holidays? Leave it out of the contract. Want regular raises? Put it in the contract.
Contrary to popular belief, you won’t pay any dues until you have a contract that you feel is worth what you’re paying. Sometimes people say, “I paid dues but the union never did anything for me.” Nearly every time I’ve heard this the person A. worked in a union that’s been around for a long time, and negotiated major improvements before they started the job, and/or B. did not actively participate by attending meetings or voting on contracts. It’s like saying, “I didn’t vote in my local elections, and the city council never did anything for me.”
Of course there’s incompetence and corruption, just like in government, but I rarely hear people argue that the solution to government corporations is to stop having elections. Unions are literally the only reliable way for workers to improve their working conditions.

You’ve worked there for… a few weeks? And you’re declaring that the reasons for the strike are bullshit? Bless your heart and good luck being exploited.
- Comment on What show took you the longest to get into? 1 year ago:
I love this. I’ve rewatched Succession more than any other show at this point. Although it’s fun to go back to the beginning and see where each of the characters started, I admit the first few eps of the show can feel slow. But god DAMN the way the characters and relationships are written is so sharp.
- Comment on Are there any good shows that are shot like Euphoria? 1 year ago:
The neon aesthetic seems like a newer trend (a trend that I love) and I see it most on these HBO shows that tend to have nudity. It’s not new and it’s not neon, but Breaking Bad has some incredibly creative cinematography, especially in the later seasons.

I agree with others than you could just… watch the rest of Euphoria. The others that come to mind are similarly dark and adult, and they’re all on HBO. I May Destroy You, some episodes of Succession. High Maintenance doesn’t look like Euphoria, but it has some very creative warm/glowing/tactile photography.
- Comment on [Discussion] What is your favorite original movie of 2022? 1 year ago:
I know that for myself, when I get pressured to watch a certain movie, or see it in a certain context (in theaters, or all in one sitting, etc.) it makes me less motivated to watch it.
That said, I feel strongly that Everything Everywhere should be watched in one sitting, with as little distraction as possible. It’s so dense with energy and emotion and it’s an absolute joy. I had the privilege of seeing it in theaters when it was re-released, and it was an unforgettable experience.
