Want to throw me an invite? I really want to try it, but none of my friends are on it. I stopped playing OW when they jumped the shark and announced OW2. You can only play if you know someone who is playing, right?

I’m sure Bill Watterson has some thoughts on AI.
- Comment on Is "disk" just a different spelling of "disc" or are they actually different words? 2 months ago:
Oh interesting…the plot thickens!
- Comment on "Modding is pretty big" says Baldur's Gate 3 director as over 1m mods are installed in less than 24 hours 2 months ago:
Some of the UI mods are really good. Gives what can be a bit of a clunky experience some QOL features and look.
- Comment on Is "disk" just a different spelling of "disc" or are they actually different words? 2 months ago:
For the optical media side of things, the name was coined by Phillips while they were consorting with Sony to develop the standard and named it the “Compact Disc” to compliment their already existing “Compact Cassette” product. They developed an official logo for the format which spelled it “disc.” That’s been with us ever since.
Didn’t LaserDisc predate Compact Discs?

Especially those who own horses (because they have money)

So emojis like this are the internet equivalent of the cockney rhyming slang, innit?
- Comment on Is lemmy now what reddit used to be 10+ years ago? 5 months ago:
It definitely feels more robust and a lot more activity in recent weeks/months. It takes a lot longer to get to the infinite porn posts in All.

Google Docs is perfect for stuff like this. Great history management, better (though not great) at formatting and stuff, has features like revisions from editors and notes. Way better than Word IMO.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, not countries!

Why did they say if like it was a bad thing? I want this to be a thing.
- Comment on Oilers' McDavid wants NHL to reverse ban on theme tape including for Pride 1 year ago:
It’s not even for during game time, it’s during warmups. It affects nothing allowing whatever tape (or jerseys) they want.

Next line speaks to that…still.
“That’s my position. We just haven’t figured out how to do it yet.”
This might be the most memorable quote from the entire run of the West Wing for me. Our teachers are doing their job out of good will and our society is taking advantage of them because their value far outstrips what they are paid.
- Comment on PSA: the largest piracy community is blocked from lemmy.world 1 year ago:
Exactly. This is about protecting themselves from legal liability, not anything else. As the guy who hosts it is just a regular guy, not a corporation with limited liability/tons of startup dollarbucks, I don’t begrudge him/them at all.
- Comment on PSA: the largest piracy community is blocked from lemmy.world 1 year ago:
I want a tool that can do the same thing for whole communities. Seems like there might be a day where communities would like to migrate for one reason or another. While you could simply stand up a new community on the new instance and then attempt to get everyone to move over, that’s bound to fail if the community is large enough. It would be cool if subscribership would also be able to be moved in the back-end.

Is that where Ted’s ego came from in HIMYM? I thought it was just Ted, but maybe all architects are horrible?
