Yes, waste and poor stewardship of resources for threadbare rationale is just great!

Well, back in the days of static everything, some OSes had every system command be a hard link to the same binary (just switching on
argv[0]
, like busybox) so they could still share library pages. This was a big deal when your workstation only had 8MB of core. - Comment on Follow up post on a question I asked 1 year ago:
Seconded. One of a literal handful of YouTubers I can even stand, doing God’s work.

Just tell them how many Good White Americans™ living in flyover country make a living farming soybeans and watch their head explode.
- Comment on So why is 3 nm chip better? 1 year ago:
Don’t forget about capacitance. Longer distances == more capacitance to charge up on state transitions. This wastes power and puts a ceiling on how quickly you can switch.
- Comment on Why do so many Lemmy instances use weird TLDs? 1 year ago:
Because people think domain hacks are cool, and also, ccTLDs are usually less expensive.
- Comment on Those who are against iOS and Apple in general, have you tried their devices lately? 1 year ago:
On Mac OS you can run whatever you want.
For now. I really think Apple has been letting the entire macos experience decay on purpose. Then, they’ll release a self-hosting xcode for iPad and old yeller the mac for good, as I am sure they have been dreaming of for years.
