From the UK, the dark sky lasted longer than I thought.
- Comment on what is the fedipact? 11 months ago:
Limited essentially means the instance is put in quarantine. AFAIK it won’t appear on the federated timelines but users can still follow and communicate to them if they desire.

Yeah the detailed explanation would be very helpful. It’s nice that Lemmy has the page at least (and I learned something new today), though that is just Lemmy and the fediverse is much bigger than that. I believe Misskey and Pleroma share it similarly to Lemmy, while Mastodon allows admins to hide it from the public (which, as I said, will act as a barrier to those wanting to sign up)

Yeah there’s a similar tool for the wider microblogging part of fediverse (Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey, etc.) but because it was made by an edgelord it gets dismissed. I get the vibe some instances just don’t want to share that information, which is important when you’re basically dealing with web infrastructure, and get mad when you seek that information out.

tbh this is a general issue with the fediverse. Some instances aren’t transparent about who is being blocked and why. It made it a whole lot more difficult for me to figure out what instance I should go for.

“There’s a lot of stuff on the site that you’d only ever say in therapy, or AA, or never at all … But we don’t need to give all of that value to some of the largest companies in the world for free.”

The way Spez and the admins treated Apollo’s dev was more than enough for me to leave Reddit, and that’s before the shit he said about the vulnerable users of his site (essentially seeing them as dollar signs - I know CEOs are scummy but holy fuck).
- Comment on Youtube has started to artificially slow down video load times if you use Firefox 11 months ago:
Does Librewolf present itself differently or use a different user agent altogether? I could see Librewolf presenting itself as Chromium as a privacy measure and people are saying changing the user agent fixes the issue.
- Comment on Adobe tells you to use Chrome, not Firefox 1 year ago:
Honestly, as a Firefox user, I agree. The Firefox evangelism gets too much for me that I’m genuinely concerned it’s going cult-like. I use Firefox because it works best for most of my web-browsing workflows, but it has its issues. Split screen tabs is one, it helps with my workflow for submitting database entries to MusicBrainz or RateYourMusic. Vivaldi has it, Firefox doesn’t, so I’ll use Vivaldi when I need to. I think Firefox has a bit more polish than Vivaldi, but Vivaldi is more willing to add features that power users coming from Firefox or old, Presto-era Opera want.
I do feel like the evangelism is toned down in the Firefox community, oddly enough (at least on lemmy.ml). In fact, the top post as of this comment is complaining about the privacy issues with Firefox’s upcoming Fakespot integration, and the comments are in agreement.

I was so close to getting LTT merch once. Glad I avoided that.
Not that I’m opposed to YouTuber merch tho (owner of a Frank the Snake longboi plush here)

Except Samsung Wallet was pre-installed on my phone by Samsung themselves. I’ve never installed Samsung Wallet manually, Samsung did it for me.

Did the same to me but with Samsung Wallet lmao

Yeah I tried “ruled” and it worked. It does try to put court things in though, and I don’t think that was OP’s intention.

I’ve gotten it to generate Robert Smith from The Cure, but not photo-realistically or intentionally (though Robert was in the prompt he wasn’t the focus)

I wanted it to make a big wasp being cuddled and it’s adamant on showing me that fucking dog instead. Maybe it prefers bees.
- Comment on Ordered 20+ groceries from Amazon on Prime Day. Today my order arrived with each item packaged separately. 1 year ago:
If you know exactly what you’re looking for and you know the seller, Amazon can be alright. I just bought an album CD there from MusicMagpie who’s set up shop on Amazon.
But if what you want is vague, be prepared to be bombarded with a bunch of Chinese sellers with weird brand names going through shittier couriers than Amazon themselves. It’s getting worse than AliExpress at this point.
