- Comment on Is it ethical for a parent to distribute inheritance based on the child(ren)'s mental capacity (aka refusing to give an inheritance to child(ren) with reduced mental capacity)? 3 weeks ago:
Sounds very US… I had to take some info on the topic here in europe and it appears that there’s a very much unalienable right for kids (and next of kin) to a fair distribution.
One can literally not change the part of the patrimony going to a child (without resorting to very complex arrangements that seemingly won’t be accepted by a judge should shit hits the fan).
Even though, for example, one learns he did not father a child -still cannot change the percentage. Tough luck for the other children, the wife…
Everyone has a right to be protected here. In the grand scheme of things it’s for the best.
And yeah, ethics is the basis for this simply you have to assume the position of the weakest one involved and not from the perspective of the one with the money ;-)

How sad is it when gaming companies first advertise to their shareholders before the gamers…

Or make sure you can hook it to something like home assistant without reliance on cloud…
- Comment on Have companies that claim to anonymize the data gathered on individuals ever been independently audited to verify that? 11 months ago:
Let’s see a company weasel out of iso27001 audit and explain their customers that they aren’t so much compliant anymore. That’s what is getting companies to stay within the lines and that should count as a punishment. Privacy authorities aren’t generally staffed enough to be a concern for the moment unless you are very unlucky.
- Comment on Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users 1 year ago:
For niche content creators that aren’t in the million of subs what they get isn’t even subsistence money… hence their merchs. Those are not ads inserted in the video stream but screen space below the video… easily ignored especially compared to actual ads.
- Comment on Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users 1 year ago:
It’s less ads and more your youtuber’s shop… you pay YouTube premium to get rid of their ads but you don’t pay your content creator… maybe if there was a subscription patreon-like it would be equivalent.
- Comment on Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users 1 year ago:
That’s a bit of an extreme take on the topic… not wanting ads from the broadcaster is one thing, not wanting to be separately presented with the promotional items of the youtuber himself is something else. I like seeing what the guys I follow are putting out. Maybe a 2nd option in ads content would be appropriate for you but don’t throw everyone in the same bag…

Damn. Before giving the shit to my indians teammates I need to know what the chart would look like in Belgium. But hopefully we’re doing better. Also how to you discuss this subject not sounding like a fucking racist?
