Yes I am defensive about it, ok bye.

I’ve been working with the web since the mid 90s I think I know what I’m talking about, but everyone has their own experience and perception. I love when people try to correct people when they have no idea who they are talking to, like you automatically know better? I think we’re talking about different things anyways, you are talking about programming and I am talking about the loss of all artistic merit from web design

They all look like this, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Pluto, Hulu. If you can’t see the problem then I don’t know what to say, there is no design at all to the page it is just some movie posters on a page. It is boring and lazy and lacks any artistic skill or panache whatsoever. It’s just another way they are making the web into boring unimaginative shits as they are

Quite a few have popped up in the thread 😄
- Comment on 5 days ago:
This is not really about the posters but the web design and a general lament for web design, those are also a problem tbh
- Comment on 5 days ago:
It nothing to do with the posters, it’s the design and navigability of the web site, and the fact that every web site looks like the same uninspired piece of generic garbage, when design used to be important
- Comment on 5 days ago:
frameworks allow you to accomplish stuff instead of just coding
Meh, what they did was just eventually phase out front end designers, now you just have these all in one guys doing everything and you can tell because it all looks like SHIT
- Comment on 5 days ago:
Yes you are correct it’s mainly about the web site design, but the posters deserve their own post

Thanks you too 🥰

Well I’m certainly not paying for it haha. Yeah I agree, It’s just too bad that once again all the color and joy has to be taken out of something and replaced with boring corporate bullshit. Like web design in the 90s was fun and experimental and there are all different kinds of sites and everyone had different ideas and they were all valid, it was a blast, but I guess that’s kind of how things go once you’re given unlimited options. Working with just the constraints of HTML was challenging and then CSS came along and made things easier but then they just kept adding more shit to it and now it’s a bloat fest full of features that no designer will ever use to their potential because they don’t do creative design anymore, then they added all those JS frameworks and blah

Strange is my mana lol, I like it not only for the giraffe haha but the contast too not only the focus and color but the rusty machinery and the statue that looks like it might be from a merry go round.. nice!
- Comment on 5 days ago:
Oh my goodness thank you I finally feel vindicated like no one around me ever mentions anything about it, I do need some more friends lol, but yeah as someone who does design and appreciates good design and knows what a hell creatives put them through to go through the process of making something people love and then it all gets reduced to garbage like this
- Comment on 5 days ago:
Yea it kinda goes to a page with a random crappy screenshot from the movie that doesn’t really say anything, and a really bad synopsis lol. I dunno if they are like, going to lock away all the information soon or what
- Comment on 5 days ago:
It’s a small world after all it’s a small world.. lol. Yah it’s kinda cozy 😊
- Comment on 5 days ago:
This is HBO MAX, I know it looks exactly the same haha, and yes I think so, this movie platform is so confusing because they have a decent amount of classic cinema, a sprinkling of good modern movies, and then just a bunch of garbage blockbusters like that. It’s like they’re trying to do to much or it’s in the middle of a transition, they will probably dump all those old classics soon I’m sure
- Comment on 5 days ago:
Yeah I suppose, you just gotta pick one thing and then it does the rest, or that’s what they want probs
- Comment on 5 days ago:
Yeah that makes since, they don’t even have the mouse over information anymore you gotta click thru
- Comment on 5 days ago:
LOL like there is zero design elements at all besides the number, no flair, no color, no focus stealer, decades of design out the window lol
- Comment on 5 days ago:
It’s probably not even designed persay anymore just algorithmically generated all the way through, what a feat lol

I thought that movie was hilarious too when I was a teen, early 20’s but now that I’m a life long weed user it’s honestly just so stupid and full of inaccuracies but I guess it is a comedy, still no need to perpetuate stereotypes or disinformation

Yeah I don’t like to have stuff presented to me in this way because then it makes me think there is going to be a bias, I don’t need things presented to me or explained or broken down unless I specifically asked for it, I just want the information

Uh I mean, there’s probably some places you can volunteer to help disabled persons, though I think they might frown on sleeping with the clients. The clients might not frown on it idk. I am not a doctor this is not medical advice

there’s so many assholes getting paid for nothing nowadays I don’t feel like lifting a damn finger any more and I’ve been a hard worker all my life, I’m sure I’m not alone. A general strike can’t come fast enough these fuckers need a punch in the gut
- Comment on How do I become more "woke"? Just to aggervate the right a little. 1 week ago:
The problem is, it is such a nebulous term, that it works to their advantage. Woke used to mean just being aware of the MANY injustices in the world, particularly against women, persons of color, queer or otherwise historically oppressed people, but they keep on moving the goal posts of the term to include other common sense things. According to some, empathy is woke and that is super dangerous and scary to me. So I guess, just have some empathy and you’ll be on the right track
