- Comment on "No More Hand-Written Code" - Epic Reportedly Adopts "AI First" Production Model On New Disney Shooter 3 days ago:
Dude, I haven’t hand written any assembly code for 30 years… those “AI compilers” have been doing ALL the work, the optimization, and especially the optimizers inject a lot of bugs - particularly in the 25-30 years ago timeframe.

Nobody inside your home ever takes photos and posts them to social media?

This only seems to affect properties with public listings to source photos from
Has your house been on the market in the past 20-25 years? If so, Zillow and others still publicly show the interior photos from that marketing campaign.
- Comment on Solo developer rebuilds Adobe Creative Suite in Rust using Claude, releases it free to all — targets 100% parity in one month despite piracy claims and safety warnings 6 days ago:
There was a time GIMP’s interface was “too much” for me and I continued to use my old Photoshop CD-ROM, but about 20-23 years ago I got over that. I don’t do any real heavy image manipulation but I still need to do the occational screen capture, crop, resize, rotate, overlay kind of stuff - I’ve had 23 years to get used to it, so GIMP is pretty intuitive for all that, to me (and it had already become so 22 years ago…)

I’d guess you are right, but I don’t know because I haven’t tested it. I’d say: if this guy really devoted a solid month of focused LLM development time on the job, and knows what he’s doing, there’s a chance he’s pretty close to what is claimed in TFA. But I haven’t tested it for myself, so I just don’t know. I’m guessing you are right because most of these projects aren’t done by people who know what they’re doing, and aren’t real heavy effort even during the month they work on them.

Everybody likes what they know, have you given learning GIMP a chance, or does CS6 do things for you that GIMP can’t?

How have the devalued demographic fared since?
To a large extent, they have been replaced with non-citizens. While much is made of physical ability being replaced by machines, it’s far from 100% achieved today. Where physical labor remains necessary, it’s largely filled by a “2nd society” - and members of the “1st society” rarely entertain the notion of pursuing anything resembling a career in doing the physical labor. Meanwhile, the “2nd society” gets abused with limited if any protections from hazardous working conditions, etc.
- Comment on OpenAI paid $300 for a bug that gave away its paid models 1 week ago:
Seem that if a bug would result in thousands of dollars in losses, paying out $300 is kind of an “own goal” - company giving itself a PR black eye.

Is it really unemployment if nobody is there counting the unemployed?
- Comment on If you work at a prison, and then you get sentenced to do time at that prison...Do they let you keep your job? 4 weeks ago:
Knew a guy who was sentenced by a judge to be a “trustee” at a prison, he was quick to point out he was never a (normal) inmate, trustees work within the prison, not as guards, for no pay - they do things that some non-inmate employees get paid to do. Depending on the situation, it might be a small transition from guard to trustee - but I highly suspect that whatever the guard did to be incarcerated would best be handled with him as an inmate (which trustees technically are) at a different prison.
