I will definitely take you up on that!

I want to try a wedge/near wedge at some point. Do you find it easier to shave with than a hollow grind?
- Comment on Wednesday SOTD Thread, January 7th, 2026 (#939) 7 hours ago:
I use a system (SDS) for tracking usage, so I’ll typically push a blade just to see how far I can take it. I’m not sure why, I just get a kick out of it.
Is the Simpson cream vegan, or is there tallow in the ingredients list?

Really great shave. The Rocket HD shaves just as nicely as my Super Speed, but feels nicer in the hand. A great shaver.
This brush still has a hint of Autumn Ash smell to it. Note to self: use a synthetic brush with Autumn Ash!

Especially if you mix and match!
This Oleo toner is a winner in my book though. I have a backup bottle ready to go.

For sure, it’s good stuff.

Nice! Stirling makes great stuff.
I have the 31mm version of the same brush and it’s a great one. It took very little breaking in and makes an excellent lather.

Do you usually only use a blade for 4 uses?
How is the performance of that Simpson shave cream?

Lonestar and Roam Two combine very nicely together. Would recommend.

Lovely scent combo and a smooth shave. The Slim really has held up well and is popular for good reason, they’re great shavers.

Thanks! I am also a fan of DBS and may convince my wife to get be a bottle of BdC for my birthday.
Unlikely that I’ll spearhead another group but this year since I have three basically full tubs. Never say never though! ;)

Another excellent shave with Outback. This base really has top shelf slickness.
Summer Storm into Deep Blue Sea was, in retrospect, an obvious combination that worked quite well. I’m surprised I haven’t tried the combo before.

A pretty close shave overall with some definite irritation on my chin. I’m thinking perhaps I didn’t stretch my skin enough while doing that section of my face.
The software combination was pleasant for a rainy Sunday morning.

I found the bit about which type of razor to pick for which type of beard interesting.
I also found this interesting. I’ve only used hollow grind razors, and would love to try other grinds at some point.
I have to say I’m skeptical about the grind needing to be different for different types of facial hair though. I’d assume that as long as a razor is sharp it’ll shave well with good technique. I’ve definitely been wrong before though!

Spice was kind of a strange transition from the woody/patchouli Outback, but it worked well enough.
Susurro++; I wonder whether Vida is going to bring this one back.

I wonder if you have any soaps with 0 uses. That’s kind of hard to track with the SDS.
I’m sure that I do!
This is another reason I’d love to be able to run arbitrary SQL queries against SDS. This would be a straightforward query if that were possible.

Congrats! 🎉
I’d say you should celebrate by ordering some Woolly Wash, but it’s likely expensive to ship to you. 🙃
Glad you enjoyed it, I’ve been extremely impressed by the base.
