- Comment on Do you think that Trump is the most hated U.S. president? 1 hour ago:
I think it’s very close.
Bush launched two wars where the US invaded countries in the Middle East, leading to decades of destabilization in the region and leading to millions dead. His admin coincided with the rise of Fox News and conservative punditry outside talk radio. Patriot act, tax cuts, oversaw the recession, etc.
Israel’s genocide started under Biden, so I can’t exactly put that on Trump even if he’s supported it. This quagmire with Iran isn’t as big as the invasions were.
Trump’s been more damaging domestically with his scotus appointments and emboldening racists, but if you look outside just the US, then yeah I think you can definitely make the argument that Bush was worse.

Really strange how many attribute their anecdotes to a wide ranging phenomenon afflicting only one specific generation.

Kinda surprised how long it took to scroll before seeing Ico and SOTC mentioned, tbh.
Crown jewels of PS2, imo. Pushed the medium forward artistically.
- Comment on Shortly After Xbox Game Pass Prices Spiked, the Page to Cancel Game Pass Subscriptions Was Overwhelmed 9 months ago:
Gamepass only ever made sense to people who had time to play or dabble in a sufficiently large amount of games per year and felt the need to play some new titles soon or immediately instead of waiting. Otherwise, eventually your total subscription costs would outpace the total cost to purchase what you played, especially if purchased on sale at a later date. And the value gets worse if you ever replayed a game (s).
I’ll never really understand the excitement about this service. It was always a Trojan horse.
- Comment on Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability. 2 years ago:
Games “back in the day” weren’t made with algorithms designed to mess with your psychology to keep you playing, even if you hate the game. They didn’t design the games into evergrinds that only a few sweaty types and professionals can genuinely enjoy either. Old games had a logical, satisfying end where you would put them down afterwards.
Well, many old games were. Arcade games specifically were often designed to get coins from players, with extreme difficulty encouraging grinds and sweaty playthroughs to achieve mastery.
If anything, multiplayer and GaaS brought us back there.
Many new games, especially single player games, are still designed with “fun” in mind, or with even loftier goals and themes, many without exploitative gameplay loops, yet still with distinct, pleasing graphics, art styles, and polished gameplay.
