lutris definitely takes the cake when it comes to customizability, but i consider it a bit hard on the UX… especially for new users.
i always recommend Heroic first, and if there are problems then one can use lutris (or bottles in really bad situations) as a backup.

use signal to safely organize, but remember to faraday cage your phone before you leave. no proof that you were there.
- Comment on Order of magnitude is a hell of a drug 2 weeks ago:
honestly, my rust comment was mostly a joke; rust is great for it, but its readability is really bad. i’m not a huge fan of writing/reading it, just using it.

as an engineer, a lot of languages (even proprietary ones) have a built-in constant pi variable because it is so ubiquitous - its easier and more readable to use pi than 3…
- Comment on What are some good places/activities where a middle-aged man can new make friends? 3 weeks ago:
usually a band plays for ~30-45m - enjoying music time - and ~15m-1h (depending on the setup for that night) of downtime for chatting.
- Comment on What are some good places/activities where a middle-aged man can new make friends? 3 weeks ago:
as one with limited mobility, i have made friends at the local, extremely small, music venue. tickets at the door are $20, beer is cheap, and everyone is super friendly.
because its a small place, the owner lets me take a chair with me when i am going to one of the stages that has no seating (i use a cane; its hard to stand for long periods). i usually sit next to the merch tables, and the friends of the bands usually strike up conversation.
this is a suuuuuper small place. it has 2-3 stages (depending on the night), but they are really close together, so only one band at a time can play (two stages are outside because the building is so small). even if its not music, go to really small local places that get decent crowds - they are a lot more personable.

(in regards to the first paragraph) there are more than two reasons to play video games. “choose one of these pre-selected answers” is probably not the reason for most.

- Comment on BDS calls for boycott of Microsoft and Xbox gaming products over alleged Israeli military connections 2 months ago:
gaming on linux is not janky. it is quite nice, and it leaves all of the MS UX nightmares at home.
i agree theat computers can be expensive, and are getting more expensive. if its for gaming, the games will be waaaaaaay cheaper, so one will have to look at the savings in the long run (especially by not having a subscription to use the product)

- Comment on Luxury bones? In *this* economy. 3 months ago:
my parents were born in 1953 & 1954.
i was born in 1984. single income household, father is blue collar worker, mother is housewife.
when i was born, we lived in a big, two-story, full-size single family home in a high cost of living area.
when i was 3 years old (1987), my parents decided they wanted another house, so they bought one and we moved to an even higher cost of living area. they didnt sell the first house to afford a new one, they just bought another one and we had two houses.
what the fuck happened.
