Credulity and technical competence are definitely not mutually exclusive.

It is disinformation to promote the idea that any of the people or corporations mentioned in this article were ever “climate advocates” and there is no reason we should continue to promote outlets that engage in this rhetoric.

Just brilliant. You created a very mild and civil honeypot for fascist sympathizers.

I love the high bar of philosophy and taste being set by the discussions here about what is and isn’t art, so please don’t let this note distract from those.
Joints like Christie’s and the stuff they sell is largely a money laundering operation. Without decrying what’s coming out of the modern art scene, art collection is where a lot of the capitalists rinse their stolen wealth. There’s an entire economy around this practice. Here’s a company that will hook you up with the vaults, the lawyers, jewelry to swap, and travel accommodations.
So obviously generative output bots do not make art and- and- BUT ALSO nothing capitalists value is real, they only believe in their fiat. It’s all always just money crime game to them. Always.

Capitalists are completely bonkers, living in a warped reality that you have to be inculcated into by serial abusers
- Comment on An OpenAI whistleblower was found dead in his apartment. Now his mother wants answers 1 week ago:
Okay so this is actually a death threat by Open AI that Fortune is laundering and helping spread. This is clearly modeled after the Boeing murders and resulting wave of anti-activist propaganda that the capitalist media spread afterward.
Otherwise they wouldn’t be re-framing things like this:
That vantage point helped build his view that OpenAI was breaking the law by making copies of online content. OpenAI was Balaji’s first job out of college, a prodigious leap that…
This young man did not have “his view” that OpenAI is breaking the law and stealing content. That is what is factually happening. He was not a young idealist, fresh out of college. He was a 26 year old man who knew that what he was seeing was wrong.
Fortune then deeply implies that OpenAI has murdered him. This propaganda serves to terrorize people who are in similar positions with corporations. It is a death threat.
Mr. Remington, as a mod, maybe you could add some context to the headline to reflect this.

Those people were scabs during the 2000s writer strike, though. This guy is talking about replacing labor with stolen labor.

It definitely can be if a creative does it. Look at Max Payne, Persona 4, or Golden Light (pictured) if you want to see examples of artists doing it well. What absolutely won’t create a fictional TV that is elevated to the level of “good video game art” is some trash theft model.

Corpo figurehead bloviating nonsense problems to justify paying fewer writers. Sure, just pay google to steal their ideas badly and at scale. As if they don’t already recycle and resell content constantly, you need an LLM to steal a riff on the Magnavox logo? Maybe leave the creative industry and make room for actual creatives.

Have a difficult time relating to people who still tolerate this from leisure technology. A screen one can liberate can be found pretty readily at hand for any range of prices in the rust belt but maybe it is different where you are.
