cashiers aren’t allowed to sit in USA?
Not in any stores I have seen in my city.

That’s more than I make and I’m a teaching assistant at a public school. Good for them though!

Ahh, ok. Thank you! I was figuring it couldn’t be too serious since i had never even knew about it until this random user starting posting screenshots of it and calling me toxic. lmao
This community is awesome and helpful. Thank you!

You own your data, you can self-host your own Lemmy instance and still connect to other Lemmy instances (Like what I do)
Can ya point to a series of instructions that show one how to do that? I mean, I’ll search on my own as well, but since you seem well versed, I thought you may have some unique insight on a really good set of instructions.

Loony power tripping moderators can only ban you from their little bit rather than from the whole site.
Amen!

I’ve probably had more heavy downvotes or arguments on Lemmy in 9 months than I had on Reddit in over 15 years.
Same. I mean, I still love and prefer Lemmy, but I’ve had DM’s of people saying that they were gonna follow me around on Lemmy “just to keep an eye on” me because I disagreed with what they said. lmao

My biggest piece of advice is to be the content you want to see.
Totally agree with this. BUT just know that for some Lemmy’s, they get suspicious pretty quick. My account is less than a month old. I found a vast whole of the kind of content I want to see, so I started posting a lot.
And pretty much every day I get called variations of being a troll, spammer, trumpet and/or russian asset.
Doesn’t keep me from posting, and I think it’s hilarious. But just a heads up to anyone reading. Tho this thread is old so maybe no one will. But I found this thread just now, so… lol

Late to this thread, but dammit, well said, friend. Well said.

I prefer Lemmy, even tho it can be a little too reddit-like. But the mods do seem to be a bit less ban-happy, so that’s a good thing.
But since I vote for third parties, I get pretty much the same hateful comments I got when I was on Reddit. But hey, at least I’m not banned! :)

i experience this constantly on lemmy.
Me too!

I really wish those were not anonymous so you could see who is abusing the system like that.
Me too!

Good! I prefer that to you following me around just to “keep an eye on” me and calling me a forum slider every other comment. So see? You’re day is already better and brighter. :)

Btw, OP has banned many, Many, MANY people themselves,
Yep, and baselessly attacked people in a forum I am in, including me. He had several comments removed for false accusations there (lemmy.world/modlog/1252), then came to this community and said how mad he was about that sub, and then said something really horrible about the mods there.
Guy is legit angry at the world, and he gets even angrier when he doesn’t get his way.

It creates a hostile environment which is explicitly against the rules.
Agreed! It’s very annoying when people create a hostile environment, like falsely accusing people of being forum sliders, Russian plants, going and following them around in every post just to downvote every post, not supporting their rights to vote for whoever they want, etc.
Let’s hope that Lemmy doesn’t get as toxic as Reddit with that BS!

I used to work four 10-hour days. HATED it. lol
- Comment on Why We Need a Four-Day Workweek. 5 weeks ago:
Never mind the fact that Friday is the day teachers fill out paperwork
And if we had 4-day workweeks, they would lose yet another day to do that.
So unfortunately, due to the workload of teachers, 4-day work weeks don’t work for us.
