- Comment on The 5 Most Controversial 4K transfers of all time 17 hours ago:
I just watched True Lies in 4K and felt the transfer was phenomenal. These cheesy action movies don’t need the preserved grain or whatever, and I’d say it definitely felt true to the original experience that Cameron wanted to create.
- Comment on Windows 12 release is pushed back at least another year as Microsoft announces Windows 11 version 25H2 2 months ago:
For me, the ability to move your taskbar to the sides of the screen. I use an ultrawide, and have plenty of horizontal space to spare, but very little vertical.
It’s a ridiculous regression, that only exists because MS engineers are too lazy to figure out how to put all their new taskbar junk like copilot, weather, news, etc. in a vertical setting.
- Comment on Synology requires self-branded drives for some consumer NAS systems, drops full functionality and support for third-party HDDs 4 months ago:
I loved synology, this is such a punch in the gut. After I adopted them myself like 10ish years ago, I converted my dad, and two seperate friends to pick one up too. Never going back now.
- Comment on Let's discuss: Half-Life 1 year ago:
To provide a counterpoint, I think it can definitely be worth it to throw together a cheap VR setup for this game.
I personally went through Half-life Alyx on my original Oculus Rift CV1 and it was still an amazing experience. I don’t know where you live, but in my market a good condition CV1 is selling for about 10,000 yen (so that’s equivalent to 65 USD, but your market will probably vary).
This is PC VR though, so you’ll probably want a PC with at least a 1080-class GPU. Once you have the headset though there’s a few games from the same era which had simlarly incredible experiences like Lone Echo.
