This is a part of the beginning of it. Centralization results in layoffs and worse products. This is why we have antitrust laws, now they go unenforced because of corruption. AI is going to replace a lot of jobs and we’re going to get shittier products while the winning corporations continue to make more money. Winner take all system is bad for everyone.
- Comment on Images leak of Valve's next game, and it's an Overwatch-style hero shooter 7 months ago:
Ugh, as if we don’t have enough of this kind of game already. SMITE 2 and Marvel Rivals are coming soon. Valve for fucks sake, look at how well Half Life: Alyx did. I seriously hope they’re working on a future Half Life game or some new story driven style game at the very least. I’m calling it now, Deadlock is going to be another Artifact.

Let me just believe you’d be that stupid to make that comment after knowing how difficult it is to quit.
- Comment on Why do people still eat beef when we know it's terrible for Earth? 7 months ago:
No, they don’t. I used to smoke, nicotine is a fucking bitch of a drug, somehow I managed to quit using vaping and nicotine gum over 2 years. Beef is not an addictive chemical. You must never have experienced nicotine drug, what a naive ass comment to make.
- Comment on Why do people still eat beef when we know it's terrible for Earth? 7 months ago:
go make your government ban beef
I would get them to end all subsidies for the beef industry if I could. Unfortunately I’m not in control of that, all I can do is bring up discussion, and I got you to comment, so I succeeded.
- Comment on [Serious] Why do so many people seem to hate veganism? 7 months ago:
Because it requires them to admit that what they’re choosing to do is damaging the planet more significantly than they need to in order to survive.

“We” are informed individuals who care about proven scientific facts.
“Know” is the fact that methane is a strong greenhouse gas.
No, when it comes to something factually proven time and time again. Anyone can “know” anything but that doesn’t mean they’re correct.
I’ve gone through many mind changing events in my life time, so has everyone else.
- Comment on Why do people still eat beef when we know it's terrible for Earth? 7 months ago:
Yea, so don’t give them your money. I’m not just ranting about them on the internet, I’m actively NOT giving them my money. How hard is that for people? Oh sad sad days they can’t enjoy their steak.
- Comment on Why do people still eat beef when we know it's terrible for Earth? 7 months ago:
Theres no such thing as a corporation without consumers, we are where the buck is created, and where the buck stops.
Absolutely correct, glad to have read your comment. People need to start realizing they play a role in what’s to come. It’s a terrible mentality to think we don’t all have our effect on the future.
- Comment on Why do people still eat beef when we know it's terrible for Earth? 7 months ago:
Nah, you just don’t give a shit to believe you have any control over reality.

Good, discussion has gotten stale as fuck on the internet. I don’t want to see Lemmy become some censored smooth brained shit pool like Reddit.

- Comment on If a universal basic income started today with the stipulation that you had to put 40 hrs/wk towards making the world a better place or solving societal problems, how would you spend your time? 7 months ago:
I would start working on a cyclical algae production system that would work indoors and rely on renewable energy. It would need to be built somewhere with plenty of sun and water. The goal would be to produce dried compacted algae to use for fuel while being carbon negative.
- Comment on How did we get humans on the moon in 1969 and are still struggling to get the Starship rocket to launch properly? 7 months ago:
That’s a great summary, I appreciate it. Do you think the new approach has been worth it so far? The Artemis 1 launch was successful first try.

Interesting, that makes sense, thank you. I looked this up like 3 times using google and duckduckgo and none of the results gave me a clear answer.

- Comment on Amazon's Fallout TV Series Renewed For Season 2 8 months ago:
That’s fair, which is the reason I’m giving it a pass. It does feel like it’s embracing video game logic which is fine by me. Not everything needs to be realistically believable to be fun to watch. Thanks for writing that, it’s helping shift my perspective a bit, I want to enjoy it and I think this will help.

as far as we know he’s about as inexperienced as one could be.
Incorrect, he grew up around the power armor, he asked Titus in the vertiberd if he had modified his power armor for mobility. He clearly knew a lot about the power armor, you’d think he’d have read the user manual many times since he was a child. To assume Maximus’ character only knows as much as anyone else about power armor is seriously hard to believe.

I haven’t been enjoying it too much but it has been alright, I’m giving it a pass. If it continues this way though I’m not going to like it. My main complaints so far:
spoiler
In the first episode they just let Vault 32 people into Vault 33 after he makes a speech about not knowing what the surface is like or what humanity has become like. You’d think there’d have been the slightest amount of precaution especially after they make it clear that it’s been a long time, and there was an unexpected change of overseer. You’d think her father would remember at least some of the people from the last exchange, you’d think at least one person would have checked in Vault 32, you’d think one person would have checked the radiation levels or that there would be some automated system. And holy shit the fight scene between Maximus in the power armor and The Ghoul, he could have crushed his arms and head like 3 times and instead chose to throw him over and over again? Even with a new user of the power armor, if he got a grasp of an enemy could just crush their bones.
- Comment on I bought frozen BBQ eel and the best before date says LJ349. What does this mean? 8 months ago:
That looks like a failure to regulate and standardize expiration date format which ultimately benefits corporations and fucks the consumer.
- Comment on Why is there no true Progressive party in America right now? 8 months ago:
Progressivism, I wrote “Progressive” right in the title. I did not write “Communist” which is completely different.
- Comment on Why is there no true Progressive party in America right now? 8 months ago:
Communism is something different, that’s not what I’m asking about.

So would it be fair to say that keeping marijuana illegal is a major part of institutional racism?

Also why doesn’t this disqualify religious organizations from tax exempt status under 501c3?
