Yeah so… Maybe NDT is even further along than Kaku.

His books decrease in quality the later you go.
One of his older ones (Hyperspace) is quite good and filled with lots of real science and math. Visions is pretty good too.
I think he leaned into the TV spots and airplay a lot and ultimately, fantastical stuff sells better. And now it doesn’t matter what he says, it just makes money.
See Neil DeGrasse Tyson for a similar story, though perhaps at a different point in his career.
- Comment on PS5 Exclusive Saros Has Reportedly Only Sold 300K Copies 2 weeks ago:
It’s not cheap-ass for the consumer, but it is cheap-ass for Nintendo to produce.
- Comment on PS5 Exclusive Saros Has Reportedly Only Sold 300K Copies 2 weeks ago:
Sony eventually has to see that the console model is not functioning like it used to. There are many reasons for it, some up for debate, but the writing is on the wall.
Question is: will they adapt and stop with their console exclusive nonsense in time, or will every studio they own slowly get shut down?
I hope for the former, but I expect the latter.
Nintendo will be next up as consoles fall away. Their fans are rabid, but you can’t expect reselling 30-year-old games on cheap-ass hardware to last forever as a business model, especially when no one has as much disposable income anymore.
- Comment on What is wrong with Pop OS? 2 weeks ago:
People (especially tech influencers) tend to hate beginner-friendly OSes.
I’ve been using Pop for 3+ years on my main rig. Especially with COSMIC, it is fantastic.
Sure, I’ve got Arch on a laptop, and I dabble with other distros periodically. Pop stays on the main rig though. Why? Because I don’t want to update something with a bleeding edge package and break my system. Whatever time I would be spending doing something fun in my off time would then be spent fixing Arch, instead of doing the thing.
Now, back to the influencers: why do they hate Pop / Mint / Ubuntu? Tbh I think there’s just a certain amount of flexing they have to do as influencers, and it’s hard to flex when everything just works.
- Comment on If the US got to the point of rewriting or coming up with a new constitution, which minds would be the equivalent of the minds today? To rewrite the whole thing? 3 weeks ago:
They’d have Grok do it.
- Comment on How prevalent are cash transactions in the USA? 3 weeks ago:
Sadly, not prevalent enough.
A lot of younger folks are happy not to carry cash and to have a 3rd party payment processor in their pocket until they die. Carrying cash is too cringe for them.
Many older people, or people with privacy concerns, carry cash.
Compared to either Europe or Eastern Asia, extremely few people carry cash.
- Comment on Are there any good protest songs from the past few years? 1 month ago:
It’s the kind of wordplay boomers loved with Dylan. But it’s fresh, current, enticing, and it holds a sharp edge. In 50 years I hope we remember Welles as fondly.

I dare you to stop stumping for Bethesda.
- Comment on Starfield PS5 players demand refunds, reporting widespread bugs and glitches that leave the game "unplayable" 1 month ago:
Nope. Sorry if you need copium, but I played about 50 hours. It got really boring because planets are generally empty. Combat is OK, but not special.
There really needed to be improvements to flight. As it stands, you can’t even walk around your own ship while it’s underway. And that, as I said, is because of the Creation engine. It’s just not acceptable for a modern game. Bethesda knows this, they’re just milking what’s left.
Is it the worst game ever made? Not by a longshot. But it’s not a good one either.
- Comment on Starfield PS5 players demand refunds, reporting widespread bugs and glitches that leave the game "unplayable" 1 month ago:
Sadly mods won’t fix the fact you have to play a loading screen.
The fact that Bethesda thought they could get away with their ancient engine once again is laughable.
- Comment on PS5 Price increase collapses PlayStation console sales in Japan, with Xbox gaining 1 month ago:
Maybe. I find that to be a really weird business strategy. But, maybe their analysts are very confident that console gaming is rapidly dying. If not… shrug.
- Comment on PS5 Price increase collapses PlayStation console sales in Japan, with Xbox gaining 1 month ago:
Part of a much larger trend of companies finding out that there is a limit to consumer spending, and most consumers are already beyond it.
- Comment on Starfield on PS5 Pro is the best it's ever been, but it's still Starfield | RPG Site 1 month ago:
Enhanced mode with a 40fps target (that dropped noticeably when using vehicles) or the Performance mode with a 60fps target
Having now spent nearly 40 hours with Starfield on PS5 and PS5 Pro, this is definitely the best Starfield has been

- Comment on Valve Addresses Steam Machine Anti-Cheat Concerns, Says It's Working Towards Support 5 months ago:
On the one hand, I don’t give a fuck about anti-cheat, because games using the kernel-level version tend to be giant multiplayer cesspools of little value.
On the other hand, I want Windows to lose the war.
I hope Valve can find the balance between these two extremes.

GTA Online alone takes in billions of dollars for this company. Its employees should be reaping the rewards of that success.
Something tells me they aren’t.
A lot of companies (most?), especially in the US, need to return to the social contract.

the full power of Windows PC gaming
It’s even better without the Windows.
Something tells me that part of Microsoft’s public focus here is distraction from the fact that they are losing grip on two separate markets.

Considering that just about every AAA game is now released as an awful, rushed mess (for $70), I hope they take their time.
