- Comment on If the US got to the point of rewriting or coming up with a new constitution, which minds would be the equivalent of the minds today? To rewrite the whole thing? 4 days ago:
They’d have Grok do it.
- Comment on How prevalent are cash transactions in the USA? 5 days ago:
Sadly, not prevalent enough.
A lot of younger folks are happy not to carry cash and to have a 3rd party payment processor in their pocket until they die. Carrying cash is too cringe for them.
Many older people, or people with privacy concerns, carry cash.
Compared to either Europe or Eastern Asia, extremely few people carry cash.
- Comment on Are there any good protest songs from the past few years? 3 weeks ago:
It’s the kind of wordplay boomers loved with Dylan. But it’s fresh, current, enticing, and it holds a sharp edge. In 50 years I hope we remember Welles as fondly.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that this man exists.

I dare you to stop stumping for Bethesda.
- Comment on Starfield PS5 players demand refunds, reporting widespread bugs and glitches that leave the game "unplayable" 3 weeks ago:
Nope. Sorry if you need copium, but I played about 50 hours. It got really boring because planets are generally empty. Combat is OK, but not special.
There really needed to be improvements to flight. As it stands, you can’t even walk around your own ship while it’s underway. And that, as I said, is because of the Creation engine. It’s just not acceptable for a modern game. Bethesda knows this, they’re just milking what’s left.
Is it the worst game ever made? Not by a longshot. But it’s not a good one either.
- Comment on Starfield PS5 players demand refunds, reporting widespread bugs and glitches that leave the game "unplayable" 4 weeks ago:
Sadly mods won’t fix the fact you have to play a loading screen.
The fact that Bethesda thought they could get away with their ancient engine once again is laughable.
- Comment on PS5 Price increase collapses PlayStation console sales in Japan, with Xbox gaining 4 weeks ago:
Maybe. I find that to be a really weird business strategy. But, maybe their analysts are very confident that console gaming is rapidly dying. If not… shrug.
- Comment on PS5 Price increase collapses PlayStation console sales in Japan, with Xbox gaining 4 weeks ago:
Part of a much larger trend of companies finding out that there is a limit to consumer spending, and most consumers are already beyond it.
- Comment on Starfield on PS5 Pro is the best it's ever been, but it's still Starfield | RPG Site 4 weeks ago:
Enhanced mode with a 40fps target (that dropped noticeably when using vehicles) or the Performance mode with a 60fps target
Having now spent nearly 40 hours with Starfield on PS5 and PS5 Pro, this is definitely the best Starfield has been
Lol k

- Comment on Valve Addresses Steam Machine Anti-Cheat Concerns, Says It's Working Towards Support 5 months ago:
On the one hand, I don’t give a fuck about anti-cheat, because games using the kernel-level version tend to be giant multiplayer cesspools of little value.
On the other hand, I want Windows to lose the war.
I hope Valve can find the balance between these two extremes.

I enjoy VI, but I know it is divisive.
My comment holds more generally true for anything mouse-centric.

As someone still using Steam Controller 1 on the daily, I am stoked to see that they have not abandoned the trackpads. Civ from the couch ftw.

Well that’s a great sign.
- Comment on Protests erupt at Rockstar Games offices accusing GTA 6 developers of “Union Busting” 5 months ago:
GTA Online alone takes in billions of dollars for this company. Its employees should be reaping the rewards of that success.
Something tells me they aren’t.
A lot of companies (most?), especially in the US, need to return to the social contract.

A respected academic telling me that something or another in data is “suggestive” means something. From a rando pseudoscientist working from the armchair, it means fuck all.

the full power of Windows PC gaming
It’s even better without the Windows.
Something tells me that part of Microsoft’s public focus here is distraction from the fact that they are losing grip on two separate markets.

People really need to stop fetishizing grind. Especially when you effectively get nothing for it, it just makes you look dumb and impressionable.

And before Lotus, there was sc (which you can still use today, if you prefer staying in the CLI as much as possible).

You also can’t do shit with their service, app and web, if you’re on a VPN. It just refuses. Even – and this may be illegal – unsubscribing from their emails.
- Comment on GTA 6 release date could slip to 2026 under Rockstar "fallback plan", according to reports 2 years ago:
Considering that just about every AAA game is now released as an awful, rushed mess (for $70), I hope they take their time.

And not to mention: the original versions actually run fine to this day. Pure money grab and they made the product(s) worse to do it.

- Comment on how many US states have a single payer healthcare system? 2 years ago:
Yeah, I think this is the right answer. It’s a bit shocking that none exist, but that doesn’t mean it’s untrue. Some may have existed but don’t anymore (like the Vermont example in another reply).
The health insurance racket in the US is strong – probably the strongest in the world – and they have to
