Now we just need to wait for Microsoft to ditch Windows lol
- Comment on Proton is the Future of PC gaming. But how does it work? [Gardiner Bryant, YouTube] 2 months ago:
I could see them abandoning Windows as it is and instead making their own Linux distro, maybe in like the year 2100 lol
- Comment on Shower thought, traversal in open world games have turned from game mechanics to loading screens 2 months ago:
Yeah anyone who thinks 3D games without loading screens are only possible on SSDs needs to go back and play Dungeon Siege or Asheron’s Call. GTA3 mostly didn’t have loading screens either. The Witcher 3 wasn’t even that long ago and it didn’t need loading screens on HDDs. (I guess traveling between the main big areas did, but I guess that’s more because they didn’t have an animation of Geralt taking a boat or something, everything else streamed fine)

Turns out the lighting was a bit dark for some people, and since during October the cosmetics affect the regular randomizer modes too, we will be releasing a hotfix soon. For now remember that you can use the flashlight without any energy cost, and you can also increase the Brightness Boost settings in the Rando->Visuals menu.

- Comment on 75% of all PS5 owners prefer Performance Mode according to PlayStation 3 months ago:
This means game devs will start focusing more on smoother 60 fps and even 120 fps, right? …RIGHT?
- Comment on Sony. What are you even doing right now? PS5 Pro Announcement 3 months ago:
Watch Digital Foundry, very very few AAA PS5 games can do 4k AND 60fps (which is what I assume you mean by “high framerates”). Probably none of those are doing ray tracing at the same time. Most PS5 games have upscaling enabled at all times because they’re rendering at much lower internal resolutions. PS5 Pro is not even twice as powerful, it’s not going to be capable of pushing 4x as many pixels per second. There’s a reason why they’re still talking about their upscaling algorithms.
“Advanced ray tracing” is not a technical term that exists it’s just marketing speak, and obviously they couldn’t say path tracing because they won’t be doing much of that like a 4070 or 4080 does.
- Comment on Sony. What are you even doing right now? PS5 Pro Announcement 3 months ago:
It won’t come close to a 4080 so that isn’t a sensible comparison. I think it’s estimated to be slower than the regular 4070.
IDK why you mention 4k and max settings and high frame rates, PS5 Pro won’t do these things. It’s not even twice as fast as the regular PS5 which in many games drops below 1080p 60fps medium settings.

- Comment on Borderlands is no longer the biggest box office flop of the year 3 months ago:
Well they don’t always know ahead of time the movie will be bad, but once the movie is finished or nearly finished they can watch the movie and decide if it’s worth a lot of marketing or not
- Comment on Borderlands is no longer the biggest box office flop of the year 3 months ago:
why advertise bad movies? just a waste of money doing marketing

- Comment on What JRPG combat is your favorite? 4 months ago:
I haven’t played many JRPGs, but I’ll say Grandia 2. I liked the way the timers worked, and the cancels.
Panzer Dragoon Saga was pretty cool too, with the circular movement.

- Comment on Writing HTML by hand is easier than debugging your static site generator 5 months ago:
haha maybe for a small site, but then you get something like this…
video-game-randomizers.github.io/rando-list/
The data is all yaml files, Jekyll runs in Github Actions automatically on commit. Try doing this in HTML by hand and then realize you want to change the HTML structure a little bit, or add new fields or new features. Or accept pull requests from non-developers to add new entries. We accept pull requests from people and they just have to fill in the yaml info with plenty of examples and schema checks in Github Actions before building the site, and you can download a zip file of the output HTML from Github Actions.

I would suggest against GMDX for a first time playthrough, it changes A LOT. From the aesthetics, to the gameplay, to the sounds, the mood, the feel of the game, and the viable approaches in each level, there’s so much that’s changed it just isn’t the same game anymore.
You’re much better off with the Vanilla Fixer tool, Transcended, or Zero Rando (I’m the dev). You could also use Revision and toggle every setting to vanilla, but make sure you also disable the HDTP models, and disable Shifter and Biomod too.
