We need to delineate here. It’s not all Democrats, it’s ones that are taking corporate, AIPAC and other dark money. Grassroots campaigns are the only successful way to get candidates that represent working class constituents because that’s where the money comes from. This all goes back to Citizen’s United, which was the largest attack on democracy in my lifetime.

Also, the attorney general isn’t supposed to be a lapdog for the president, they’re supposed to act autonomously to enforce checks and balances and… The law. I know, silly notion. This is a huge shift in corruption that sadly, the American people have come to accept due to propaganda and normalization. The files were sealed due to the Maxwell investigation by a federal judge, which is normal during an ongoing investigation. Then they were reopened by Congress during the Trump regime and the attorney general doesn’t follow the law and there’s no accountability due to the aforementioned efforts.

I like them. Even if it doesn’t hide a loading screen in a specific instance, as others have pointed out, it breaks up the pace. It’s never very long and usually it makes me focus on some art, animation or music that I hadn’t noticed or was taking for granted. It usually lasts a very small amount of time. I think our attention spans have just shrunk so much.

Monster Train was fantastic and Monster Train 2 is even better. I love the challenge modes and the new hellspawn.

I played the second one and I couldn’t finish it because it was boring. Think really basic turn-based rpg like Dragonquest with some half-baked Pokemon elements thrown in. Full disclosure - I really don’t like Dragonquest. It was cool in the day, but now it just feels basic and archaic, which some people are into.

I bounced so far off that game. The constant endless hordes of enemies just made it an annoying tower defense

Depends on the climate and the number of trees. I understand wanting to leave all the leaves, but it’ll just create a muddy mess in my yard. I mulch them, it spreads through the yard. I circle around the trees and garden beds to get more leaves in those areas. Leftovers go on the composting pile.

Just a social norm. Allegedly keeps the water cleaner with less hair and detritus. However, you’re still expected to wear one if you’re bald. I certainly didn’t agree with it. I think it’s more important just to shower up before swimming.

When I visited Spain, they wouldn’t let you swim in the hotel pools unless you had a cap.
- Comment on Why do i tip my bartender $2 per drink and per bar food order but 20% when I order food from a waitress? Am I tipping wrong? 7 months ago:
Sorry, I should have said living wage. Like what an actual minimum wage should be, calculated based on the average cost of basic necessities. (Food, housing etc…) With geography included. Pretty basic stuff. Like how the minimum wage in CA is 16.50$? Of course some servers would be upset - if you’re valet or a server at a fine dining restaurant you’re making significantly more than a server at a working class chain for doing essentially the same job. That’s dumb. Also, I’d posit there are a lot more people against tips than for tips, which makes legislation a possibility.
How/why would inflation be out of control? The cooks don’t get tips, the managers don’t get tips, the dishwashers don’t get tips. They’re paid a wage. Some restaurants in the US already do this. I have one near me.
I do know what the server’s wage is where I live - It’s $2.83/hour, with a maximum tip cover of $4.42 to bring to minimum wage, which isn’t even close to a liveable wage, since minimum wage hasn’t been adjusted since '09 and it was too low then. Plus they have no health insurance or other benefits (average cost is $9k for solo/$25k for families).
I’m not inclined to tip when I visit Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Denmark etc… because their servers make liveable wages and they have healthcare and other benefits provided by their governments.

I’m an American and I hate tipping culture. I don’t believe your solution to getting rid of tipping culture is viable. I think we collectively as a culture would need to agree not to tip, which isn’t going to happen. A much easier way would be through legislation and forcing employers to pay fair wages. I don’t think customers would be inclined to tip someone making a fair wage. If this thread and hundreds like them on Lemmy and Reddit are any indication, people are generally guilted into tipping because wait staff makes $2/hour or whatever in the states.

I disagree. You’d have to organize a national movement with a majority of the relevant population onboard. Can’t even get people to vote. Good luck.

Unpopular opinion, but I got used to eating hot dogs growing up with regular sliced bread and I might even prefer it. The bun/dog ratio is good. However, I know it’s more bread and is contradictory, but Danish hot dogs are my favorite.

I think they just failed. The Wachowskis aren’t writing or directing.

I truly believe Resurrections was a purposeful flop to demonetize/kill the series to prevent WB making additional sequels or maybe remakes.

Community with Troy and Britta and Annie and Jeff. After Dan Harmon was fired and replaced by David Guarascio and Moses Port, they decided to ruin the show in season 4 with awful writing and character choices (probably at the behest of the network). This included a sudden nonsensical Britta and Troy relationship and weird romantic stuff with Annie and Jeff in one episode, which may have been the worst Community episode imo. The whole of season 4 mostly sucked with just a couple of bright spots. Fortunately Harmon came back on board, righted the ship and wrote 2 more enjoyable seasons.

If it’s getting bad, use it to do a deep clean on your pans. Let the half lemon soak in the pan and scrub with the rind.

I wanted to like it. I used it for couch co-op a handful of times but always had so many issues. After troubleshooting it for the 10th time, it became ewaste and I just setup chairs next to my small computer monitor. It’s a shame.
