- Comment on The Disinformation Machine: How Susceptible Are We to AI Propaganda? 1 day ago:
Very.
The major social media sites were programmed to feed people content that convinces them that their opinions are fully valid while also keeping them perpetually angry, all to keep their eyeballs glued to ads.
When content synthesized by AI gets more sophisticated, we won’t be able to tell the difference.

I’m about 1/3 of the way through Jedi Fallen Order.
It’s a lot of fun.
I’ve also been in VR a lot this week, watching The Faceless Lady in the creepy cabin on Meta Horizon, and last night I went to a Doja Cat concert in VR too.
- Comment on Does Arkham Knight get better? 6 days ago:
I disliked the batmobile sequences so much it ruined the game for me.
Kind of a bummer since I played all of the other three Arkham games and loved them.

Gave up Dragons Dogma 2 at 120 hours.
Played a shit-ton of Vampire Survivors this week and I’m thinking I may pick Jedi: Fallen Order back up.

Yup. I got a grip accessory for mine to mitigate it.

Really, I just mean ‘in the courts’.
When American business interests just decided to unite and collectively steal all of the IP on the Internet, it was always going to end up in the courts.

This is going to go the same way Napster did.

After 120 hours, I finally got bored with Dragon’s Dogma 2.
So I’m picking back up Solasta: Crown of the Magister. I also dusted off my VR rig and I’m playing the Affected: The Manor, a horror/haunted house game.
It’ll be fun.

LOL
Because giving people the option to opt-in to the platform that birthed the resurgence of Fascism worked out so well.
- Comment on Senate passes TikTok ban bill, sending it to Biden, who has already committed to signing it 2 weeks ago:
Respectfully, the “fight them there so we don’t fight them here” and “help them stand up so we can stand down” nonsense is straight out of the chickenhawks’ war branding guide.
Meanwhile I can look over the border and see Mexico spending a mere 8 billion a year on war and Canada a mere 26 billion. Meanwhile we’re up to a trillion and a half this year, but sure, it has nothing to do with the housing crisis or the standard of living in this country. We’re definitely not neglecting our own people to feed an insatiable war machine.
Frankly, I’m sick of watching our government impoverish our people to pay for more super yachts for warmongers.

Define ‘better’.

First, you should put this in air quotes: “a major healthcare reform”. It’s only a reform if you the consumer can absorb the price gouging required to access our health care system in the first place.
Secondly, Obama had a supermajority for a time. He could have done anything if he’d have been willing to do the work.
Americans can’t eat excuses, and for me at least, it’s no longer acceptable to simply be slightly less conservative than the other conservatives.

Agreed. I love using ChatGPT for content suggestions.
- Comment on What do you personally use AI for? 2 weeks ago:
I’ve been using ChatGPT in conjunction with search engines just to find things I need. For instance, I did an April Fools presentation for a work meeting and needed humorous real-life legal stories, so the AI was able to provide suggestions.
I also use it to for simple tasks, like organizing info into a table.
Mainly, though, my reason for using it is that, since I work in tech, I’m going to need to know how to use it well, and the best way to do that is being hands-on.

I would accept that as an excuse if the Democrats did anything meaningful when they have a majority, but they don’t.

I love that this and more funding for other countries’ wars are a higher priority than the housing crisis.

After 110 hours I’m still playing Dragon’s Dogma 2, but am starting to be ready to move on to something else.
I’ve barely explored the third major zone in the game.
Definitely a good value for the money.

You speak as if it’s already decided.
I think it is. Trump won in 2016 because people were largely impoverished and Democrats didn’t do anything about it. The impoverishment is worse now.
BUT, that does make it more important to enjoy the silly shit. Absolutely.
- Comment on Does anyone have "Neopets revival" on their 2024 bingo card? 4 weeks ago:
I mean, it’s legitimately a bright spot.
But with November of this year likely heralding the legitimacy of fascism in the US, it’s incumbent upon us to try enjoy the silly shit before that comes along.

Still on Dragon’s Dogma 2. (at 94 hours of playtime)

HA, funny that this comes up. DND Beyond doesn’t have a d100, so I opened my ChatGPT sub and had it roll a d100 for me a few times so I could use my magic beans properly.

That’s okay.
It’s definitely not for everyone. I like it because it’s fun to explore the world they’ve built, but it’ll be more fun when the launch bugs are worked out.

Dragon’s Dogma 2, getting close to 80 hours. I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface because, now that I’m getting 60’ish level pawns to run in my party, I’m still finding a ton of secrets in areas I’ve already explored extensively.
If you like exploring open worlds, it’s a pretty great game.
