- Comment on ‘It is British life’: No 10 vows to stop councils trying to limit standing in pubs 2 weeks ago:
I’m reading this as an outsider (US) and wondering who the people proposing these policies are, and why they’re so opposed to fun, nightlife, and supporting long-standing traditions? I’ve been to the UK many times and loved the pub scene.
Is this is an anti-alcohol ploy dressed in crime-fighting garb?

It’s a pity that The Onion has become profoundly unfunny in the intervening decades.

Humorous RFCs and protocol proposals are an ancient internet tradition: en.wikipedia.org/…/April_Fools'_Day_Request_for_C…
Engineering humour of this sort actually goes back even further – en.wikipedia.org/…/April_Fools'_Day_Request_for_C…
Nerdy humour has probably been around as long as there have been engineers.

Ah, very likely. I’m a literalist at heart, which is often at odds with posts of this nature. Thank you.

The screenshot shown references nothing about a payment plan or a 69% APR. What am I missing?
